We love this story! There's always one member of a phalanx that feels he needs to stand out among the crowd. Thanks for sharing!

One thing you may not know, one of them has an erection.

30 some-odd years ago I had a friend that worked at the old Pizzeria Uno on the 2nd floor of Union Station. She and a couple of coworkers climbed out of the glass less window of the restaurant that overlooks the main hall one night after work and walked around the parapet where the statues stand. They did this on word that if they looked in the right place they could spot an "upright fellow" they were told was out there by a previous worked at the pizza place. They looked and they found him and his little soldier standing at full attention, or atleast that's what she told me... a story which I stamped a giant BS upon.
So she offered to take me out there after her closing shift and if she was fibbing I would be treated to free drinks at the Irish pub across the street from the station, if she could prove her story, I'd have to buy.
Prior to what would later turn out to be quite the financial hardship to my college student budget. I was treated to a thrilling adventure that included; trespassing in an area nobody would ever think you could go without getting into some sort of trouble. Some once in a lifetime views of DC's beautiful palatial train depot and to top it off a statue with a stiffy!

Thanks for visiting HeydayDC.com, Ken. As for your question, we could find only bronze statues of Spartans. Let us know if you have any luck, and we'll mention it on the post. Happy hunting!
